How do I get a library card?
Guilford residents may obtain a library card at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library.

Can I print at the library? How much does it cost?
The library offers public printing. Black & white prints are $.25 each and color copies are $1.00. The same costs apply to the photocopy machine. The library also offers wireless printing from your laptop. The same prices apply.

How long can I check out books? DVDs?
Foreign Films and DVDs – 1 week.
All other materials – 3 weeks.
Any item with the exception of Best Sellers may be renewed by telephone, in person, via text message or online if no one else has reserved it.

How much are overdue fines?
Fines are twenty-five cents a day for all items, except Best Sellers, which are $1.00 a day. The maximum fine on an adult item is $4.00. The maximum fine on children’s items is $2.00.

  • Renew in person
  • If the library is closed, return items in our drive-up book drop

Do you have downloadable books?
The library has both downloadable audiobooks and e-books. Many devices are compatible with the service such as Kindles, Nooks, iPads, iPods, Sony e-readers, and many more. Please click here to browse the downloadable collection.

Can I reserve books?
Yes. Reserves may be placed on books using our online catalog. Log in with your library barcode number and last name, search for your item, and then place the hold.

Do you accept book donations?
We are now accepting book donations for the Friends of the Guilford Free Library. Donations will be accepted outdoors (weather permitting) on tables set up by the parking lot.

The Friends of the Library accept donations year-round for their annual book sale. Please drop off items at the library. Staff at the circulation desk can provide you with an acknowledgment letter.

Does the library have a fax machine for public use?
Yes, the cost for faxing is $1.00 per page.

Can I volunteer at the library?
Yes, we always need volunteers to help us shelve books. If you are interested please call the library at 203-453-8282 or stop by. From time to time we also have other project for volunteers. People interested in volunteering in the Children’s Room must be at least 12 years old.

I know someone who is home-bound. Does the library have a delivery program?

Are there any library book clubs?
Yes. There are two fiction and one non-fiction book club.

Do you have wireless and is there a password?
The library offers wireless internet service throughout the building, and it even reaches to the Green. This is an unprotected network, and there is no password.

Do you charge for library programs?
No. All of the programs offered by the Guilford Free Library are completely free!

Does the library have study rooms?

Does the library have a typewriter?
Yes.
